Health & safety is a vital issue to all NASS Members. The service NASS provides in this important area is greatly valued by the membership and is also, most importantly, seen by outside agencies as a symbol of a responsible industry. The work in this area is driven by the Health & Safety Committee, who seek to identify areas of concern and establish initiatives to develop member services; recently their work has included: Publishing Guidance on the website Production of Health & Safety Guidelines Establishing close links with the HSE and Local Authority Enforcement agencies, through its work with SSLAP (the Steel Stockholding Lead Authority Partnership) Annual Accident Survey Health & Safety Videos
There is a need to ensure that the Committee continues to have a mix of health & safety experts, together with works managers, operations and commercial managers to ensure that the advice is sound but also realistic and appropriate. We would be pleased to hear from anyone within the NASS membership who would like to come along to one of meetings scheduled in 2007 to see how the Committee operates.
